About Lila

cropped-woods-landscape-road-loyalsock-state-forest-163703.jpegMy top work value has always been to make a difference. We spend so much time at work and I feel like getting our decisions around work right is crucial since what we do for a living and the effect our paid work has on the rest of our lives has a big impact on our overall well-being.

“It was great to talk with Lila. She is wonderful, helpful and clearly understood what I was aiming for with my future goals.”

“Great rapport, professionalism, listening and feedback! Thank you.”

“Thank you so much Lila. I found the session invaluable.”

I live in Belmont, Auckland, and I usually meet with clients in a wheelchair accessible private room in the Devonport Library; however, I am also able to offer video conferencing sessions via Zoom or Google Meet. Alternatively, if you prefer the outdoors to office environments, my consultations with you can take place over a walk along the waterfront or on top of Takarunga (it’s a bit of an uphill hike, but the view is worth it and the tops of mountains provide lots of scope for imagination).

Diverse clients have repeatedly told me that I am approachable, so please don’t hesitate to contact me so we can begin our conversation. I aim to infuse my client interactions with kindness and professionalism while helping you move towards your preferred future.

I also have a number of qualifications:

  • MA in Career Development. As a constructivist career counsellor I draw on numerous career development theories and utilise a client-centered, narrative approach.
  • Professional Membership of CDANZ (Career Development Association of NZ). Professional Membership requires ongoing professional development, adherence to a Code of Ethics and a career-specific qualification. I served as the Chairperson of the Auckland Branch Committee for 2 years.
  • 10+ Years of Career Development Experience.  I have worked with a range of clients including new graduates, career changers, people returning to the workforce after a long absence, job seekers, secondary school students, entrepreneurial enthusiasts and individuals facing redundancy.

I look forward to working with you.

Services

pexels-photo-904809.jpegCareer Counselling

Career counselling sessions answer the ‘what should I do with my life’ question. Career counselling is helpful for people who feel unsure about where to next or for people who are unhappy in their current work roles.

I utilise a conversational style where you will be doing most of the talking. I am there to listen and to ask the right questions. All of us have to make career decisions over and over again as we adjust and transition to new life challenges. These sessions allow you to describe where you are at and help you work out what your priorities are so you can decide where you want to be. Together, we’ll come up with an action plan to help you move forward with your plans. I will assist you in developing your career ideas by:

● clarifying your non-negotiable values
● improving your decision making process
● encouraging you to own your skills and strengths
● challenging your limiting beliefs and behaviours
● supporting your efforts to find a satisfying career

My aim is for you to have a transformational experience – to complete our sessions feeling optimistic, open to the possibilities awaiting you, and full of momentum to take action. Here is what some of my previous clients have said after completing career counselling sessions with me:

“So therapeutic and felt like a step in the right direction – thank you so much Lila.”

“Lila gave me clear direction for my next steps and asked very relevant, forward thinking questions that have really helped me with my future aspirations. Thank you – a great service; better than expected!”
